Photogrammetry is a method of overlapping a series of photographs to obtain a 3D model. In general definition, photogrammetry is any measurement based on a photograph taken at a certain scale.
Nevena Knežević, a citizen of the 3D Republic, says:
"I have been making, correcting and preparing 3D models obtained from a set of photos for some time now, so I thought why not start doing it myself.
All you need from equipment is:
- lighting,
- a rotating board, for example for pizza or a rotating exercise machine in my case or something like
- camera, this was done with a Canon 5D, and it can be any, it can also be a phone and
- software.
This is what the setup looks like in my attic. It is important for the lighting to be even, diffuse and without shadows. Daylight can also be used outdoors on a cloudy day.

In my experience, the easiest software to work with is
Agisoft Photosan Standard edition, which costs 165 euros and has a trial period of 30 days. But there are also free ones like
123D Catch or
VisualSFM
It's even simpler than it sounds, and the possibilities are endless. Any static model in this case quickly becomes a 3d model, ready for print, games, movies...
I went to make a model of my next meal.
