"The border between analog and digital no longer exists," says designer Dries Verbrungen from Belgian studio Unfold.
The project "Of Instruments and Archetypes" is a joint project of the studio Unfold with the designer Penny Webb and the research laboratory Kirschner3D.
The creative team has created a compass, a measuring instrument for circumferences and angles, with which you convert the actual measurements of existing objects and materials into a digital file.
These tools can be used with a computer application, with which objects can then be materialized with the help of digital production such as 3D printing.
This makes it possible to start with a simple design and after taking the measurements of the items themselves, modify them in a digital file to then print a completely new item.
The design of these tools is much simplified and they resemble traditional measuring tools.
