Design engineering firm Pensa recently added a Method XL 3D printer to its arsenal to advance prototyping and R&D processes

Dizajnersko inženjerska firma Pensa je nedavno dodala 3D štampač Method XL svom arsenalu kako bi unapredila procese prototipiranja i istraživanja i razvoja

This printer joins its predecessors Method and Method X, providing designers and engineers with a seamless 3D printing process.

Method XL is used for tooling and prototyping, specifically for Pensa Labs. For small production runs, where injection molding is not an option, Method XL enables fast and flexible printing. For consistently high-quality ABS parts, Method XL's heating table and actively heated chamber are key.

In addition, the team can accurately test large parts in multiple iterations before deciding on injection molding. Although the transition from 3D printing to plastic injection molding is possible, it is not currently cost-effective for Pensa Labs, given the low production volume and complexity of the parts.

Using ABS material and RapidRinse soluble support material, Pensa ensures consistency, accuracy and repeatability in production. This reduces the effort and time required to remove the support, and the parts remain of high quality. In addition, the same material is used for prototypes and production, thus ensuring consistency in performance. In conclusion, the addition of Method XL to Pensa's 3D printing enables the efficient production of small batch parts while providing high-quality prototypes and readiness for the necessary transition to injection molding when it becomes economically justifiable.
