Sneakers of the future in 3D printing

Patike budućnosti u 3D štampi

The German sports brand Adidas has announced plans to revolutionize the way soles are manufactured for sports sneakers.

After many experiments with 3D printing technology , Adidas presented the Futurecraft sole, which can be precisely adapted to the structure of the foot. The sole is characterized by unusually flexible and breathable mesh layers that transfer the pressure to the foot. Using 3D scanning and printing, the soles will accurately replicate different foot shapes taking into account different pressure points and demands to create more comfortable footwear. For this important project that has the potential to change the footwear industry, Adidas has partnered with 3D printing company Materialise. Although the Futurecraft sole is still in the prototype stage, the brand hopes that the widespread introduction of scanning technologies will allow users to purchase sneakers that are carefully customized and produced in the on-site shop. Futurecraft is for now only a prototype with a unique combination of materials and processes. In the meantime, we eagerly await the development of this bold project.
