The Closed Circuit of Digital Dentistry: New Dental Materials, Applications and Integrations.

Zatvoreni krug digitalne stomatologije: Novi dentalni materijali, primene i integracije.

Dentistry is already on its way to fully adopting the digital work process. Increasingly, messy alginate impressions are being replaced by digital scans, and complicated manual techniques by computer-aided production. This should come as no surprise. Each set of teeth is unique, which means that each dental product needs to be specially adapted. The need for high customization and a small final product make it a perfect place to apply 3D printing. Previously, the properties of the material represented an obstacle to the wider application of this technology, however, new, biocompatible materials allow dentists to produce a wider range of products with the help of 3D printing. So far, users of Formlabs 3D printers in dentistry have made over 150,000 prints. Today, with the launch of two new dental wafers, Formlabs is greatly expanding the range of products that the Form 2 printer can produce. With printed products as accurate as larger machines costing $75,000 and up, the Form 2 is increasingly becoming the first choice for dental professionals.

Get to know the new materials

Formlabs ' new dental materials add a whole range of possibilities, including crown and bridge models, splints, foils and dentures.

Dental LT transparent resin

Class IIa biocompatible resin, Dental LT transparent resin with performance of high resistance to breakage and wear, make it ideal for splints, prostheses and other directly printed orthodontic products. This transparent material is polished to exceptional optical transparency and a beautiful end product.

3D printed prostheses

We push the boundaries of digital dentistry. We are currently developing the first integrated closed-loop operation process for the production of high-quality 3D printed dental prostheses. Currently, Formlabs and partner dental laboratories are conducting clinical studies and process tests, with new biocompatible materials for prostheses and teeth that will appear in the fall of 2017.

Simple workflow with 3Shape scanner integration

Formlabs and 3Shape, the world leader in 3D scanning and CAD/CAM software for dental practices and laboratories, have announced a software integration that will power the entire digital workflow for dental professionals. Initially starting with the Implant studio, the new dental process of working with 3D printing enables a more efficient and effective design of surgical guide products as well as their production. This will make the production of surgical guides easier and much cheaper than before. Further integrations of 3Shape's powerful software, including the Dental System and Orthodontic System, are in development and planned for launch within the year.
